Maps

For this project, I was tasked to document or "map" my journey to and from our studio, WARPHaus. I documented the walk from my apartment to WARPHaus in which I noticed the trees and natural scenery. I decided to create pillows to portray how warm, comforting, and soft, trees make me feel when I observe or walk upon them.

Using up-cycled fabric, I hand embroidered and beaded the trees I observed onto the fabric, using the bead embroidery as a sensory input to mimic tree bark. The fabric is up-cycled to tie into the imagery of the pillows, giving back to nature by recycling or repurposing and not creating more fabric waste by using what is already available. The pillows are handmade.
